Story behind — “Years Spent” at New Delhi World Book Fair, Jan 8th — 16th 2022
Glad to share that my debut book, “Years Spent : Exploring Poetry in Adventure, Life and Love” is now available on Amazon India / Flipkart and it is all set for international / US release by Jan 2nd, 2022. The book will also be featured in New Delhi World Book Fair, from Jan 8th — 16th and I couldn’t be more excited to the start of a new year.
This was a project on the back-burner for so long, that I have lost count of the days. Hence, I couldn’t be more thankful to see it take a definite shape and into the hands of you all, the readers.
I write in one of my poems in this book , Freedom of an Open Road -
“On the trip, I felt joy and hope,
love and loss, melding into a
cauldron of emotions.
I let my hair and beard grow
and felt connected to my soul.”
The journey of bringing this book was almost similar, speaking metaphorically!
As I think through how this book came into being, it takes me back to college days at ISM, then to Infosys Bangalore campus, IIM, sales stint in consumer products at Indore/Pune and eventually back to Tech in US. Though the timeline appears linear, those moments which are ‘pregnant with emotions’ are etched in a non-linear fashion in my mind. The various episodes and events during those times are still afresh which could be a fodder for yet another post, another time.
A new country demands a new start and so have I embarked on a relatively newer path of exploration and adventure sports esp. over the recent years. And it couldn’t have been more rejuvenating to say the least. These experiences have found their utterances in some of the poems in this book.
And why poetry? I have tried to answer that in the book too but let me put it in another way — While a story speaks to your mind, I feel poetry speaks to both your mind and soul.
Happy spending couple hours with this book to find your inner spark. I am excited at the overwhelming response received during India launch and looking forward to receiving more comments from the readers. Let me know how you feel after you have read the book.
I will state my reason for writing this book in another post soon.
