Taken from my book — ‘Years Spent : Exploring Poetry in Adventure, Life and Love’

There is a tiny spark
Smoldering just beneath my fear.
Raring its little head
whenever I want to leap.
Niggling fear or the raging fire
whom should I choose?
I choose fear,
feels my life beginning to shrink.
When I choose fire
I expand beyond my proportion.
Something inside of me
begins to take a shape.
That smoke from the smoldering fire
begins to clear,
as I leap,
beyond my courage.
